Upcoming Conference
The Korean American Behavioral Health Association is hosting a conference titled: “Becoming Asian American: Exploring Identity in Global Society”. You are cordially invited to attend this upcoming conference on building healthy ethnic identity and overcoming stereotypes.
A healthy ethnic identity is an important aspect of selfhood for minority individuals living in a culturally diverse society. Research findings provide ample evidence that ethnic identity is positively linked to self-esteem, self-image, life-satisfaction, and resilience in Asian Americans. However, the process of identity development for Asian Americans is complicated by acculturation experiences, intergenerational conflicts, stereotypes, racism, and discrimination.
This conference will feature exemplary Asian American leaders in the field of arts, media and academia, and they will share their insights, knowledge and empower the listeners to explore and embrace their Asian American identity.
